How to Clean Vinyl Siding
There are many types of affordable vinyl siding cleaning products that you can grab off the shelf. While some of these products are ideal for certain types of vinyl siding, common dish soap will work just as well. Simply mix a quarter cup of dish soap and for every four gallons of water. You can use plant-friendly products if your siding is close to the landscaping.
Start cleaning by using your garden hose to wash the siding down an area at the time. Hose in a downward direction, perpendicular to the face of the siding. This helps avoid pushing water into the siding overlaps and under the roofing eaves.
The siding should be mostly clean at this point, and only certain areas would have some dirt stuck in them. Wet your brush with the dish soap and water mixture, scrub the areas that are still visibly dirty. Use a brush with a telescoping handle to reach those areas near the top. Rinse the scrubbed areas with water.

Wipe the glass on your windows and patio doors using a soft and dry cloth. This helps avoid water spotting on the glass, which can be hard to remove once it’s set. Perform a thorough inspection of your siding after cleaning it. If you find mold and mildew—which typically grow in shaded and moist areas—use a 7:3 mixture of water and white vinegar. If you prefer to use commercial cleaning products, make sure it’s formulated for removing mold and mildew. Under no circumstances should you use a power washer as it can cause further damage.
